If your flight lands at Gimhae International Airport (PUS), decide by your hotel address, not simply by “Busan.” The light rail plus Metro Line 2 is a dependable route to both Seomyeon and Haeundae. An airport bus may spare you a transfer if its current stop is close to your hotel; a taxi may be more comfortable with several cases or a late arrival. Check the services still running when you leave the terminal, after immigration and baggage claim.
Going to Busan Station for a KTX train? See the two-transfer route
Choose the route that finishes at your hotel
| Your actual destination | Route to check first | What can change the decision |
|---|---|---|
| Near Seomyeon Station / 서면역 | Airport Station → Sasang → Metro Line 2 → Seomyeon | A direct airport bus stop nearer your door; stairs or a difficult final walk |
| Near Haeundae Station / 해운대역 | The same transfer at Sasang, continuing on Line 2 toward Haeundae | Heavy luggage and a current bus stop by your accommodation |
| Elsewhere in “Haeundae” or “Busan” | Search the exact Korean address and nearest station | The district name may cover a longer final leg than the airport journey |

This table is a route-selection tool, not a timetable. The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) airport guide estimates about 30 minutes by rail to Seomyeon and about 70 minutes to Haeundae. Those are transport estimates; add waiting, transfers, luggage and the last walk. Check the airport’s transport page and a live route planner for your date.
By light rail and metro: the transfer that matters
- Follow signs for the Busan–Gimhae Light Rail Transit, not signs for an ordinary Busan Metro platform. Board at Airport Station / 공항역.
- Ride to Sasang / 사상역. Follow the transfer signs to Busan Metro Line 2. The airport operator also identifies Daejeo as a transfer to Line 3, but Sasang is the useful Line 2 interchange for these two destinations.
- From Sasang, follow Line 2 in the direction of Jangsan / 장산. Check the station display before boarding. Get off at Seomyeon / 서면 or Haeundae / 해운대 as appropriate.
- Open the saved pin for your hotel before choosing an exit. A station can have several exits, and “Haeundae Beach” is not a substitute for an address.
If an elevator is essential, check the station’s accessible transfer and exit route before tapping in. A rail itinerary with one transfer is not necessarily one uninterrupted step-free journey. Allow more time when you have a stroller or large suitcase.
Gimhae Airport to Busan Station: the rail route to save
Busan Station is not on the stop lists for the city’s Airport Limousine 1 (Haeundae–Gijang) or 2 (Seomyeon–Bujeon). Bujeon Station is a different station from Busan Station. This comparison concerns those two airport limousines, not every city bus. For a KTX connection, check this rail route:
- Airport / 공항 → Sasang / 사상: take the Busan–Gimhae light rail toward Sasang.
- Sasang → Seomyeon / 서면: change to Metro Line 2 toward Jangsan / 장산.
- Seomyeon → Busan Station / 부산역: change again, this time to Line 1 toward Dadaepo Beach / 다대포해수욕장. Do not continue on Line 2 toward Haeundae.
- Metro station → KTX platform: follow signs to Busan railway station, then match your ticket’s train number and departure time to the departure board. Leaving the metro is not the same as reaching your KTX platform.
Save these checkpoints: Airport → Sasang (Line 2, Jangsan direction) → Seomyeon (Line 1, Dadaepo Beach direction) → Busan Station. There are two transfers. Build a KTX connection around immigration, baggage claim, waiting, both interchange walks and the final walk. For a late arrival, check the connecting Line 1 service as well as the last airport train.
Route and directions checked 25 October 2026: Busan Transportation Corporation map · Busan Port Authority’s airport route. The port guide’s total time extends to the passenger terminal; it is not an airport-to-Busan-Station estimate.
When the airport bus may be better
The Busan City notice lists Airport Limousine 1 for Haeundae–Gijang and 2 for Seomyeon–Bujeon. Check the stop against your hotel’s Korean address before buying. KTO places international-terminal boarding at Platform 3, between Gates 2 and 3 on the first floor.
Check the ticket before joining the boarding queue. The city lists a Bustago app QR ticket or a kiosk by first-floor Gate 4; it also allows transit/credit-card boarding when seats remain. The KTO guide instead says transit cards are not accepted and describes advance tickets near Gate 4. Because these instructions differ, confirm the departure’s seats and payment method at the ticket point and obtain a valid ticket. Do not rely on cash or assume a foreign-issued card will work. Payment instructions compared 25 October 2026.
A bus can remove the Sasang transfer yet still leave a long walk. Compare the exact bus stop to your hotel pin, the next departure and the total travel time. Keep the ticket and luggage receipt if issued. If the bus is no longer running, return to the rail timetable or the staffed taxi rank instead of waiting at an empty platform.
Taxi: give the driver a destination, not a neighborhood
Use the marked airport taxi queue. Save the hotel name and full road address in Korean, plus a map pin. Show this sentence: 이 주소로 가 주세요. (“Please go to this address.”) For an estimate, ask 통행료 포함해서 대략 얼마인가요? (“About how much, including tolls?”) Confirm the payment method before leaving if your card is your only option. The final charge can depend on traffic, tolls, vehicle type and time; a quoted estimate is not a fixed fare.
Before you leave arrivals
- Check whether you are at the domestic or international terminal and locate the actual departure point.
- Save your hotel address and late check-in instructions offline.
- Compare the arrival time at the door, including the final walk, not only the train duration.
- Keep a second route: a later train, a current bus, or a taxi that can carry your party and luggage.
