War Memorial of Korea: check the room notice before your visit

A notice about one exhibition room does not describe the whole War Memorial. Save the rooms you want, check their current notices, then choose an arrival that leaves time to visit.

Current restriction: Korean War Room I

Checked 2026-10-25: the official notice restricts access to the entire second-floor Korean War Room I from 2026-07-06 to 2026-11-11.

If Room I is your main reason to visit, adjust the plan for those dates. This does not mean Rooms II/III or the entire museum are closed. Nor does it guarantee reopening on 12 November; check follow-up information for a later visit.

Match the notice to the exact room

The official floor guide names the remembrance room 호국추모실 and separate Korean War rooms 6·25전쟁실 I, II and III, with III identified as the UN room. An update about one of these should not be broadened into 'all Korean War exhibitions' or 'the museum is closed'.

The homepage checked on 12 October 2026 announces reopening of 호국추모실 on 30 September 2026. That is a room-specific reopening date. If you encounter an older construction notice, compare the room name, publication date and later update rather than treating the older notice as the current status.

Use the operator's entry and closure calendar

The operator lists visiting hours 09:30–17:40 and last entry 17:00. It normally closes Mondays; when a holiday period includes Monday, the museum closes on the day after that holiday period ends. The visitor guide also lists New Year's Day, Seollal and Chuseok closures. Read the month-specific opening notice for exceptions.

Permanent exhibitions are free, while some exhibitions hosted by external organizers charge separately. Free entry is not a promise that every room, event or tour is available. If planning a specific guided activity, check its separate reservation and language conditions.

Build a short route from confirmed rooms

Use the official room guide to choose a priority room, a second confirmed room and an optional addition. Keep their Korean labels for asking staff, but do not treat the guide's room list as a live availability display.

Subtract your own time for entering, finding the room and moving between displays from the remaining opening time. If arriving late, reduce the route. Do not turn the 17:00 entry deadline into a recommendation to start a full museum visit then.

If your priority room is unavailable

At the information desk, show the precise room name and ask what is accessible today. If the room is the main reason for the visit, decide whether another available gallery meets that purpose or a later visit is preferable.

Keep a replacement choice in the worksheet, but confirm it too. A closed indoor room does not prove outdoor areas are open during a museum closure. Follow current barriers and staff directions; do not extrapolate a visitor's old account into today's access.

A worked example

Hypothetical plan: you arrive at 16:40 and first need 10 minutes to enter and orient yourself. Only 50 minutes remain from 16:50 to the listed 17:40 close. Choose one priority room and confirm it, rather than planning all three Korean War rooms. Those 10 minutes are your planning assumption, not an operator guarantee or a recommended complete visit length.
