Haeundae Sky Capsule or Beach Train? Plan Your Ride and Return

The Haeundae Sky Capsule and Beach Train offer different ways to enjoy the coast. The capsule is the short, small-group ride many visitors picture when planning a Busan coast day. The train reaches farther along the coast. Before you book, decide where you want to end the outing and how you will get back. A one-way ticket only covers part of that journey.

This guide uses standard fares checked on 8 September 2026. It covers which ride to choose, where to board, and how to get back, so the whole outing fits together.

Decide where you want to go before buying tickets

The capsule connects Mipo and Cheongsapo. The Beach Train continues along the Mipo–Cheongsapo–Songjeong corridor. Check the Korea Tourism Organization’s route overview if these names are unfamiliar.

A two-person return example: KRW 66,000

For two adults travelling together, a standard two-person capsule from Mipo to Cheongsapo costs KRW 50,000 per vehicle. A one-ride train ticket starting at Cheongsapo is KRW 8,000 per person. The example return to Mipo therefore costs 50,000 + (8,000 × 2) = KRW 66,000. This is our calculation from the operator’s current fare table, assuming those tickets are available and no discount applies.

For this return trip, use the fare from Cheongsapo. One-ride tickets from Mipo/Songjeong have a different price. Equally, the capsule price is a vehicle price, while train prices are per person. Remember to compare the cost for your whole group.

A one-ride train ticket does not allow reboarding after you leave. If you want stopovers, compare the package conditions on that fare page against your written route. Count how many times you plan to board and choose the ticket or package that covers those rides.

Turn a booking into a complete journey

1. Write the direction in words. “Mipo to Cheongsapo” is safer than remembering only a departure time. Check that the ticket says the same direction.
2. Decide what to do after getting off. Return by train, continue farther, or leave the railway entirely. If you plan to walk, assess distance, weather, daylight and your group separately; do not make an unfamiliar coastal walk your automatic fallback.
3. Reserve, then save the actual ticket. Keep the boarding QR and confirmation accessible before reaching the station. Make sure you have the boarding ticket itself as well as the payment notification.
4. Leave room for the transfer. Avoid scheduling a second activity as if the capsule entry window were a guaranteed arrival time at the other end.

The official booking page says sales open on Tuesdays at 07:00 Korea Standard Time (UTC+9) for the Monday–Sunday week four weeks later. It also describes QR boarding and limited on-site sales. Check that page again for your dates; an on-site option is not a promise of availability.

Check these points when the ideal slot is gone

First try changing the direction or separating the capsule from the rest of your coast day. Compare that with taking only the train. Choose a time you can comfortably reach. A slot that looks perfect for photos may leave too little time for the rest of your journey.

The operator’s FAQ warns that some overseas cards may fail authentication and explains that train travel does not guarantee a seat. Consult the operator directly about a wheelchair or other mobility device; a description of one permitted device is not approval for every size or type. Check weather operations and cancellation conditions before purchasing, especially when buying a special pass.
