For Paju’s official DMZ Peace Tour, bring an accepted original identity document and arrive with your whole party. A booking confirmation or a passport photo on your phone is not enough for entry.
- Check original ID
- Meet the whole party
- Verify course and status
- Follow designated route

Pack the document before leaving Seoul
Paju City lists a passport, alien registration card or US military ID for foreign visitors. Copies, screenshots and photos are not accepted; its notice also excludes a passport presented after the authorised stay has expired. If your situation differs, ask the tour office before travelling.
Check every participant’s entered details against the document. The city issues tickets only for people already at Imjingak, once the whole party has arrived. Agree on a meeting time and keep the original identity documents reachable.
| Item to record | Decision |
|---|---|
| Identity | Accepted original for each foreign participant. |
| Reservation | Names match the documents; no repeated fictitious names. |
| Meeting | Whole party present at Imjingak before ticket issue. |
| Operation | Check the date and cancellation notice before leaving. |
Choose the actual tour, not just the name DMZ
Use the reservation link on Paju City’s official Peace Tour page and check its meeting instructions. This course does not automatically include another product such as a JSA visit. The city says its Peace Tour does not include a separate tourist guide; a commercial guided package has different inclusions.
The Third Tunnel has narrow spaces and steep slopes, and the city says visitors with mobility difficulty may be restricted from its interior. Ask about your exact needs before buying transport; do not assume all sections of the tour are step-free.
Leave room for cancellation and follow the course rules
The published closure list includes Mondays, weekday public holidays, and Lunar New Year’s Day and Chuseok Day. Security or weather restrictions can cancel even an advance booking without warning. Keep a separate plan outside the controlled area.
Paju currently prohibits photography and video, including drones, throughout this Peace Tour course. Follow staff and stay on designated roads and viewing places. Do not apply older camera advice from a different DMZ operator to this course.

A worked example
If three travellers arrive and a fourth is still on the train, the notice does not allow tickets for the absent person. Meet as a complete party before queueing; do not count on a phone copy replacing an original passport.
Common questions
Can I use a passport screenshot?
Paju explicitly excludes document copies and photos. Bring an accepted original.
Does booking guarantee the tour will run?
No. Security and weather restrictions can still cancel access.
