Oryukdo Skywalk: shoe covers, weather closure and the entry cutoff

A free skywalk can still have an entry cutoff and a closed gate. Check the glass-platform access before committing to the journey, especially when coastal weather is unsettled.

Published last entry 17:50 · Earlier arrival + final walk · Gate open: follow shoe-cover instructions · Gate restricted: ask staff, revise plan · The gate decision depends on actual access, not hours alone.

Check the correct skywalk and arrival target

Busan Metropolitan City's Oryukdo section gives the address as 137 Oryukdo-ro, Nam-gu and lists 09:00–18:00 with last entry at 17:50. Admission is free. Save 오륙도 스카이워크 with the address; do not borrow the hours of Songdo or Cheongsapo from the same city article.

Last entry is the relevant deadline for entering the glass platform. Add time between your bus stop or taxi drop-off and the gate. A planned arrival somewhere in the area at 17:50 is not a confirmed gate arrival. Check the day's posted hours before relying on this published schedule.

Follow the shoe-cover instruction at the entrance

The city explicitly requires the shoe covers provided at the entrance. Follow the attendant's instructions and put the covers over your shoes as directed. Do not substitute a claim that visitors must change into slippers or remove their shoes.

Prepare your bags and camera before the entry point so you can follow the current local rules without blocking the gate. If the covers do not fit your footwear or you need assistance, ask the attendant before stepping onto the platform. This guide does not promise access with every kind of footwear or mobility aid.

Treat weather closure as a separate decision

The city's notice says entry can be restricted in inclement weather. An ordinary opening-hours listing does not prove that the platform is operating now. Check current local instructions and, when the trip depends on the glass walk, ask for the day's status.

Keep the decision separate from your sightseeing enthusiasm. A sunny-looking phone photo or a forecast for central Busan does not override a barrier or staff instruction at this exposed coastal facility. Do not wait at a closed entrance assuming it will reopen at a predictable time.

If the platform is closed

Ask staff whether any nearby viewing area is currently permitted and what the return options are. A closed glass platform does not establish that every surrounding path is accessible. Stay within the areas staff allow.

If your main goal was the glass walk, choose between a later confirmed visit and another activity with verified access. Check the return journey before extending the stop. Do not spend the last transport margin waiting for an unannounced reopening.

A worked example

Hypothetical plan: a taxi is expected to reach the area at 17:45. Only five minutes remain before the published 17:50 last entry, and the final walk and gate procedure are not accounted for. Move the journey earlier. If the gate is weather-closed when you arrive, free admission and an 18:00 closing time do not give permission to enter.
