Seoul’s public Wi-Fi can help with a route or booking check, but it should not be your only way to find a hotel or retrieve a ticket. Prepare a small offline travel folder while you still have a working connection.
- Verify local hotspot
- Load a real page
- Save route and accepted ticket
- Test offline access

Coverage is a location check
Seoul’s April 2026 announcement focuses on replacing older equipment and improving quality. It does not promise a continuous connection along every walking route. Look for public Wi-Fi signs at the actual location and confirm the service with venue staff when unsure.
Check both connection and a real page load before leaving the spot. A Wi-Fi icon alone does not tell you whether the internet works. If your trip needs live directions throughout the day, compare a mobile-data option against waiting for the next hotspot.
Use current local connection instructions
The city’s older Kkachi On guide names “SEOUL” and a separate bus network. These are historical examples, not a promise that every visible network with that name is today’s official service. Follow current signs and the venue’s instructions for your device.
If the connection fails, recheck the network name and move to the advertised coverage point. Do not copy an old device-specific certificate workaround simply to make it connect. For “Wi-Fi connected but no page”, ask staff or use your backup instead of spending your whole transfer window troubleshooting.
Make the offline folder useful
Save the hotel’s Korean name and address, the next meeting point, route screenshots with station exits, and booking confirmations in the format the operator accepts. Add the return stop and a phone contact. Open each saved item without a connection to check it is actually available; a cloud bookmark alone is not offline access.
For online accounts, use the correct official website and HTTPS. The FTC explains that encryption protects data in transit but does not make a fake website trustworthy. Keep devices updated and do not dismiss browser security warnings to pay for a last-minute ticket.

A worked example
Before leaving the hotel, switch off the connection briefly and try to show the address and booking. If you only see a loading page, save the information properly now. Restore the connection and refresh anything whose live validity matters.
Common questions
Does a saved webpage always work offline?
No. Test the saved item; some pages and tickets need a live connection or a specific app.
Does HTTPS prove a site is genuine?
No. The FTC notes that a scam website can also use encryption.
